Stala at the OMEN Material Exhibition in Helsinki

Stala will participate in the OMEN material exhibition in spring 2026 at Kasarmitori in Helsinki. The exhibition presents new perspectives on sustainable construction, architecture, and spatial design. It takes place in an exceptional setting: a commercial building slated for demolition, temporarily transformed into a space for architecture, design, and visual arts.

OMEN space makes visible the final stages of a building’s lifecycle and the circulation of materials. It challenges traditional linear economy thinking and proposes an alternative approach based on circularity, sufficiency, patina, and creativity. The space functions simultaneously as a gallery, a materials library, and a meeting place where ideas, people, and materials come together.

Stala showcases StalaTex material

At the exhibition, Stala presents its innovative StalaTex material, made from Circle Green® stainless steel and produced using fossil-free energy. The material reflects Stala’s commitment to responsible and sustainable solutions, while offering new possibilities for architects and interior designers.

A materials library for professionals

Alongside OMEN space, the publicly accessible OMEN materials library will open, bringing together a wide range of construction and interior materials in an inspiring, spatial format. The library serves especially design professionals, property owners, and developers by providing a centralized place to explore and compare materials.

The first exhibition focuses on the materials library. Samples and materials invite visitors to explore, touch, and combine different material options, while encouraging reflection on how the built environment can be developed in a more sustainable way.

Part of a broader transformation

OMEN space is part of a wider discussion on the need for change in architecture and construction. The exhibition raises questions about how we can make more ecologically sustainable choices within current regulations—and how these frameworks could evolve in the future.

Following the May exhibition, the concept will continue from September 2026 onwards. The building’s demolition will be carried out in phases as part of the project, with materials documented and organized for reuse. In this way, the space operates simultaneously as an exhibition, a process, and a statement on the culture of demolition.
